and food turner shall be made of a minimum of 16-gauge. All utensils shall be of one-piece construction. The turner blade should be 4½ inches long by 3% inches wide + d inch. The Style
1 hook should have approximately 5/16 inch radius. The Style 2 handle hole should be approximately 5/16 inch diameter. See Figure 1 for general shapes and approximate dimensions of utensils.
3.2 Finish. Utensils shall have a 2B or smoother finish, except for Navy use, which shall have a
No. 4 or smoother finish (see 7.1).
3.3 Standard compliance. The utensils shall comply with the requirements of NSF International
Standard No. 2 (see 5.2).
3.4 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within the tolerances specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of ASTM E 380, and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be
made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product.
3.5 Workmanship. The finished utensils shall be clean and shall not contain any burrs, slivers, sharp edges, or rough die, tool, gouge, or grind marks. The finished item shall not be fractured, buckled, dented, bent, punctured, malformed, or otherwise damaged.
4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
4.1 Contractor recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description; shall conform to the producer's own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices, and be the same product that has been sold in the commercial marketplace for over one year, or is the same product that has successfully been delivered to the Government on a previous contract or purchase order. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
The following market acceptability criteria are necessary to document the quality of the product to be provided under this CID.
